About the Wyoming Energy Council
The Wyoming Energy Council, Inc. adds value to our community by providing energy assessment, weatherization, conservation awareness and education services to low-income families, the disabled, seniors and homes with small children, Our highly trained staff provides home energy audits to determine energy consumption and habits, identify energy loss areas, and assess which weatherization measures will provide the best value in cost savings. Our teams provide weatherization services such as attic, wall, crawlspace and water heater insulation, air sealing measures, energy efficient windows & lighting, and in some cases furnaces and appliances. We work closely with federal programs; the Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) and the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP). We also partner with the Wyoming Department of Family Services (DFS) and the US Department of Energy (DOE).to provide weatherization services to those who qualify. To date, we have weatherized over 3,500 homes, primarily in Albany, Laramie and Carbon Counties, improving the quality of life for almost 10,000 people.
Here is a partial list of WEC services:
- Health and safety-related replacement of furnaces and water heaters
- Blower door testing (to determine drafts)
- Weather stripping for doors and windows
- Testing of electrical appliances for efficiency
- Carbon monoxide testing
- Insulation inspection
- All around safety check of major energy systems
The Wyoming Energy Council, Inc. (WEC) is a non-profit corporation. The corporation began as the Albany County Energy Council, Inc. in 1980 and in 1996 became the Wyoming Energy Council, Inc. Our main office is in Laramie, with a branch office in Cheyenne. Our service area is Laramie, Albany, and Carbon Counties and includes the towns of Laramie, Rawlins, Saratoga, Cheyenne and Pine Bluffs.
