WHAT WE DOWeatherization Assistance ProgramWyoming Energy Council, Inc. (WEC) operates as a sub-grantee of the State of Wyoming in the Weatherization Assistance Program. Over 4,000 low-income households have received weatherization assistance services from WEC in Albany, Laramie and Carbon Counties. WEC’s staff of three full-time and one part-time office professionals support, document, and verify performance for a crew of 10 that perform energy audits, energy-efficient retrofit work, and quality assurance for weatherization jobs. WEC has consistently fulfilled the requirements on time and on budget for all contracts using State of Wyoming, U.S. Health and Human Services Low-Income Energy Assistance Program, and U.S. Department of Energy Weatherization Assistance Program funds. In addition, WEC has been approved for special programs to perform health and safety-related replacement of furnaces and water heaters for eligible clients in both the City of Cheyenne and Albany County. These replacements leverage and extend the weatherization funds used on low-income housing. With the additional funds, WEC is able to provide a greater scope and more holistic solution to energy situations in low-income homes. Learn more visit the Weatherization page. Wyoming Home PerformanceWEC is the sponsor of Wyoming Home Performance with support from the Wyoming Business Council, the State Energy Program and the Wyoming Home Performance (WHP) Alliance. Backed by the U.S. Department of Energy and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, WHP is an innovative, whole-house approach to cost-effectively improve comfort and energy efficiency. Learn more at www.wyominghomeperformance.com. Wyoming Home Performance AllianceThe Wyoming Home Performance Alliance is a voluntary initiative that allows Wyoming-based energy utilities and developers, government, education, and private-sector organizations to publicly demonstrate their commitment to encouraging Wyoming residents to take control of rising residential utility costs by using a comprehensive "whole-house" approach to make energy-related improvements. The Wyoming Home Performance Alliance provides a forum for energy utilities and other organizations to enhance and expand Wyoming Home Performance program offerings statewide as attention focuses on the most expensive-ever home heating season starting this fall. Founding Wyoming Home Performance Alliance Partners include Black Hills Power; Cheyenne Light, Fuel, & Power; SourceGas, and Rocky Mountain Power. |
