Wyoming Energy Council, Inc. (WEC) is a non-profit organization incorporated under the laws of the State of Wyoming. The former Albany County Energy Council, Inc. was incorporated in 1980 and changed its name to Wyoming Energy Council, Inc. in 1996. Headquartered in Laramie, Wyoming, WEC also has a branch office in Cheyenne, Wyoming and serves all of Albany, Laramie, and Carbon Counties as well as the Eastern Shoshone portion of the Wind River Reservation.

Company ProfileFounded as the Albany County Energy Council in 1980, WEC merged with several other organizations to become the Wyoming Energy Council, Inc. in 1996. WEC is a private member-owned nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. Since its inception, WEC has provided low-income weatherization services to citizens of Wyoming through the Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) and the Weatherization Assistance Program. In 2005, WEC became the EPA/DOE partner to bring Home Performance with ENERGY STAR to Wyoming. This program is funded by the Wyoming Business Council and has the support of Cheyenne Light, Fuel, and Power as well as its parent organization, Black Hills Corporation. Additionally, in 2005-2006, WEC received funding from Cheyenne Housing and Community Development as well as Montana-Dakota Utilities to perform combustion appliance replacement for qualified low-income individuals. WEC provides 10-15 jobs in the Cheyenne and Laramie area, and serves more than 200 families per year.
